I collaborated with the Prince George's African American Museum and Cultural Center as a teaching artist for their Cultural Passport Program at Hyattsville Middle School. Throughout this 6 month program, I introduced students to my artwork, discussed the importance of public art, and taught about the role of muralists in history. Reflecting on this information, students and myself, developed a design that best represented Hyattsville Middle School andwas inclusive. Using the school colors, school mascot (Hawks), and shapes as letters students created "The Power of Focus" in the main hallway of the school as a way to raise school spirit and build pride.
